This is why job placements, internships and any kind of study and work combined experience are so important in your school career and in your life. Such experiences are school in themselves, and deserve a thorough evaluation even from the student's side, in order to be aware of every single new skill, competence, information, know-how collected or difficulty faced during the period spent working.
You may also be asked to write a short report or to prepare an oral presentation about your internship experience. In that case always remember to include the following information:
- WHERE: place of work, city/village, kind of restaurant/hotel/pub/cafeteria, detailed description. - WHEN: period of internship, timetables and hours of work, detailed description. - WHO: employer, colleagues, customers, relations, detailed description. - WHAT: duties, skills acquired, difficulties faced, detailed description. - HOW: pros and cons of this experience, detailed reasons.
A the end of the whole internship project, you will be asked to prepare a presentation to analise the whole project and focus on the new professional and soft skills you developed, the weaknesses and strenghts you discovered, how the PCTO experience contributed to your future choices (job, university...). Here you can find some guidelines for the preparation of your PPT and oral presentations.
